CLCS Board (August 2012 – August 2014)

Student Representative (elected by board)

Served as the sole student representative on the Community Learning Center Schools Board, which governs and oversees two charter schools in the City of Alameda.

Assisted in strategic planning by helping construct surveys, analyzing results, and organizing/leading focus groups.

Contributed to interview/selection process of organization’s new executive director, bringing a student’s perspective to that role.

 

Judicial Committee (January 2011 – January 2014)

Clerk

Twice elected (by student body) for the six member judicial committee, which serves as the school’s student-run disciplinary system.

 

Leadership Class –A 40-member class that meets regularly to plan school-wide events, pass proposals, a shape school policies and culture

Co-chair from June 2014 - present

Assist on deliberating and voting on proposals from teachers and students.

Facilitate planning and executing weekly school-wide assemblies.

Create opportunities for students in the school to take part in the democratic processes.

 

Awards

 

Presented 1st place as a novice speaker at the Bay Area Urban Debate League Summer Institute in 2012.

One of two students presented with the Citizenship Award by teacher in 2007.

Soccer player (2002 – 2013).

Lead and supporting roles in high school musicals (2011, 2012, and 2013).

Singer in a Youth UpRising sponsored band (August 2013 – January 2014).

Singer and co-founder of a local band (March 2014 – present).
